Training Day
Six hours of fabulous training and lectures, starting from the basics of “How
a Bill becomes a Law” and “Healthcare System 101” -- then expanding to the
fundamental flaw of a for-profit private health insurance system, followed
by a discussion of the specifics of the California Universal Health Care
Act, SB 840.

A special presentation featured two speakers from the former Rockridge
Institute, who discussed framing the healthcare debate. Download
their still-salient handout:
Rockridge: Thinking Points About Health Care (Lobby Day 2008) from
that day.
Also, a presentation called "Message-in-a-Box: Making Your Legislative Visit a Success” about a skill to keep oneself “on task, on target” when making a legislative visit, was later turned into an entire video. Watch the video here.
Rally
To get the best sense of the energy, enthusiasm and excitement of our Rally,
following which all 300+ students held over 100 legislative visits, watch
the 3 minute video created by an MS1 from UC Davis, Alex Robles [hyperlink

Vigil
Following our more than 100 legislative visits, we left the Capitol and met on the steps of the Cathedral of the Blessed Sacrament, where we held a Vigil to honor the lives of those lost and damaged by the profit-motive private health insurance industry.
